IndieSF...Rethought, Not Rehashed

Double Whammy - Hayes and Mac RIP

Can you believe it? I mean, Bernie was 50 for dogsakes! His doctors were getting to issue a clean bill of health. I always fear the dreaded "he/she was found face down in a plate of cocaine" but Hayes was found next to his treadmill but pronounced dead sometime later.

I dont know a lot about Bernie Mac but interestingly enough, its his lines from Oceans 11 I remember best (Do You Moisturize?).

Hayes, lets see, started shining shoes on Beale St as a kid, hired later as a session musician for the legendary Stax record label, and later released one of the definitive records of the genre, Hot Buttered Soul. He would go on to release some 2 dozen albums, but his most quoted accomplishment (recongnized by the Grammies) is recording the Theme From Shaft. Oh, and lets not forget Chef. Nuff said, right?

We'll remember Isaac Hayes all day Monday by playing something from him at the top of each hour from 9a-6p and then Rocque will do a special IGD Friday night starting at 6p.

One more for Bernie..."They should call it white jack !"
